Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agenciesall over the world.

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing design, planning, and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, and monitor work in compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.

This will be located in our new office in Orlando, Florida.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Devises new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices
  • Perform design work for new construction, renovations and improvement projects
  • Interpret and adapt traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards
  • Provide civil design services including preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural evaluations and designs
  • Follow and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for design review and project mobilization as necessary
  • Comply with health, safety and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
  • Performing construction management duties including reviewing construction documents and submittals, performing and documenting daily inspections, and assisting with project punch lists
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Degree in Civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Registered Professional Engineer, essential
  • Minimum 10 years design experience gained from engineering/construction management industry
  • Thorough knowledge of civil design and engineering techniques
  • Proficient in creating designs simple enough for local construction contractors to complete, and meet the requirements of the PWS
  • Excellent communications, effective leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD
  • Previous experience working on US Government and military domestic and international projects preferred
  • Familiarity with military programming rules and documentation, advantage
  • Must be willing to travel for occasional international assignments.
  • Able to obtain Secret Clearance.
