Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The IT Security Officer is responsible for planning and executing the needed protection of company data network and information in compliance to the government standard requirement and best practices.

This is a full-time job that will be assigned in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales.

Key responsibilities:

As a Data Protection Officer:

  • Ensure that the organization processes the personal data of its staff, customers, providers or any other individuals (also referred to as data subjects) in compliance with the applicable data protection rules. (PH-DPA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Ensure the information stored on computers or networks is not disclosed to unwanted parties or inadvertently modified
  • Inform and advise the controller or processor, as well as their employees, of their obligations under the data protection law
  • Monitor compliance of the organization with all legislation in relation to data protection, including in audits, awareness-raising activities as well as training of staff involved in processing operations
  • Provide advice where a DPIA has been carried out and monitor its performance
  • Act as a contact point for requests from individuals regarding the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights
  • Cooperate with DPAs and act as a contact point for DPAs on issues related to processing

As a Cyber Security Officer:

  • Monitor network usage to ensure compliance with security policies
  • Keeping up to date with developments in IT security standards and threats
  • Performing penetration tests to find any flaws
  • Collaborating with management and the IT Group to improve security
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining security systems
  • Provide solution and take needed measure/s if and when data has been compromised
  • Working with employees of organizations to make sure they are educated on security protocol
  • Install and maintain security software
  • In charge of the company’s network protection
  • Design firewalls, monitor the use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information and protect the network
  • Keeping abreast with virus reports and protecting the company’s network from malicious attacks
  • Analyze scenarios, provide solutions, and recommends protecting the company’s network
  • Seeking to build in security during the development stages of software systems, networks and data centers
  • Looking for vulnerabilities and risks in hardware and software
  • Finding the best way to secure the IT infrastructure of an organization
  • Building firewalls into network infrastructures
  • Constantly monitoring for attacks and intrusions
  • When the cybersecurity specialist finds a potential threat or attempted breach, closing off the security vulnerability
  • Identifying the perpetrator and liaising with the police if necessary

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related course
  • At least 4 years of solid experience in handling data protection and cybersecurity
  • Experience with security features of Microsoft Office 365 and Azure Server
  • Knowledgeable in NIST, CMMC, PH-Data Privacy Act, GDPR and Other Security and Privacy Compliance.
  • Experience in Ethical Hacking
  • Able to communicate (written or spoken) with employees in explaining the needed protection from breaches
  • Sound decision making, proactive/creative problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Willing to work on different hours of the day
