Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agenciesall over the world.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for configuring the main electrical utility and distribution bus to allow for testing, maintenance, and repair/replacement of all components without causing a loss of power to MGVAMC. Also, shall be held accountable for providing designs within the construction funding constraints/limitations.

The place of performance will be in Mann‐Grandstaff VA Medical Center, Spokane, Washington, and contingent on the award of the contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review the contractor's submittals for technical compliance with contract requirements
  • Implements and enforces all applicable electrical engineering codes
  • Design and specify the most energy-efficient systems that are economically feasible
  • Integrate new layout, controls, alarms, notifications, etc. into the existing Caterpillar Master Controller and associated touchscreen. Update graphics on all CAT touchscreens to reflect new equipment and configurations
  • Connect the HVAC system to the existing monitoring/control system such that all points (OSA, dampers, valves, etc) can be monitored and controlled remotely
  • shall make site visits and assessments to determine existing conditions prior to the inception of work
  • shall promptly report to the Contracting Officer, in writing, any discrepancy between this contract and the planning information provided by the Government
  • Support Hazard Risk Assessments
  • Perform Safety Audits and Inspections including reviewing and inspecting infection control measures
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications To be successful in the role:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license preferred
  • Five years of electrical engineering construction or design experience demonstrating a professional knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, with hospital experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and use of basic construction software and computer applications to include CAD and 3D modeling (BIM)
  • With experience in handling multiple tie-breaker business systems using a fully closed transition approach; specifically using Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays
  • Possess basic familiarity with related engineering fields including mechanical, architectural, civil, and structural
  • Knowledge of management and analysis techniques to identify, consider, and resolve issues or problems
  • Knowledge of scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, including Excel
  • Strong communications skills in English both written and oral
  • Flexible to work on shifting schedule to provide office coverage of construction work at the site
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
