Senior BIM Specialist (1099)

Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Drafter-CAD/BIM will be supporting the design team in providing logistic and data collection services These include the review of existing drawings and preparation of draft drawings/findings applicable to projects.

This will be located in our new office in Orlando, Florida. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with project CAD/BIM standards or BIM Execution Plan
  • Assumes lead on developing discipline-specific BIM modelling contents for projects, libraries, templates, etc
  • Attend informational project meetings and follow-on meetings with the project engineer and document results
  • Create draft conceptual and construction drawings in a compatible CAD format, currently AutoCAD 2012* provided as Government Furnished Property (GFP)
  • Maintain and file electronic and hard copies of the drawings within a Facilities Archive database and/or drawing files library
  • Verify, update, and maintain data (including changes) required for facilities management and the Space Allocation Program and post updated information to a webpage
  • Maintain site maps and building drawings using AutoCAD 2012 or latest version
  • Develop a draft conceptual site and floor plans, and develop and update draft project briefs in PowerPoint related to MILCON and Planning projects
  • During project Implementation, provide logistic support by: verifying that the proposed product submittals for a construction project are consistent with what the design engineer specified within the construction bid package; notifying the project engineer of discrepancies from the contract/design drawings on the day of the finding; and tracking project status to ensure critical completion time tolerances will be met
  • Utilizing government furnished information (GFI) develop a ROM cost estimate for a proposed project
  • Document the results of data collection and meeting and deliver results to the Project Engineer
  • Assist with ARCHIBUS database management in real-time and generate ARCHIBUS database reports as required. 

Qualification to be successful for the role:                         

  • Technical Education in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or related field
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2012 or latest version
  • Strong experience in BIM modelling and handled construction projects with a minimum cost of $15M
  • Proficient in Autocad and Revit (Structures and/or MEP), NavisWorks, Tekla, or any similar BIM programs
  • Experience with ARCHIBUS facilities management software skills a plus
  • Must be willing to travel for occasional international assignments
  • Able to obtain Secret Clearance.
