Construction QA Representative

The QA representative will be responsible for ensuring quality control programs are in place and are ensuring quality standards are being met.  Also, the QA representative oversees quality control programs and initiatives and approves submittals and quality control plans.

This position is contingent on the award of the contract. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the prime contractor, client customers, activity managers, maintenance and utility servers, Federal Fire departments, and Security Police so there is seamless coordination of construction activities
  • Attend the pre-construction conference for the assigned construction contract
  • Attend safety meetings called by the CO or COR with the construction Contractor
  • Draft project-specific Quality Assurance plans as applicable to contract documents for the construction project monitor construction work (including MEC prosecution) for project CQC compliance with contract documents. The QAP shall monitor the construction work using as guides those documents listed in this scope of work under the paragraph entitled “Applicable Documents”
  • Monitor the compliance of the construction Contractor with the environmental protection requirements of this contract
  • Monitor all materials testing conducted by the construction Contractors and their testing laboratories
  • Witness testing of waste, gas, water, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire protection, elevator, boiler and energy monitoring control systems. Shall note results and provide recommendations to accept or reject such systems on the CRR
  • Maintain working files for the construction project of all reports, correspondence, etc., generated as result of this
  • contract
  • Take and provide to the Government complete progress, record, and other construction photographs
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Management and has 10 years of construction experience or (2) have 15 years of construction experience performing the tasks identified herein. Certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies or other recognized organizations is desired.
  • Journeyman electrician or journeyman plumber current license. As an option to the license, the CSET shall have at least 7 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Technician, Quality Control Manager, Superintendent, or Project Manager on multi-disciplined projects greater than $1million
  • Specialized training for Construction Quality Verification or completed an equivalent course
  • Competent computer skills for network data entry
  • Proficiency in using computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including a background of familiarity with USACE (EM -385-1-1) and OSHA safety requirements
  • Completed 30 Hour OSHA Construction Training within the past 2 years
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
