Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service missions (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps), along with other US federal agencies.

The Project Manager will provide oversight and support to ensure the successful delivery of construction management services and deliverables for projects that include renovation and new construction at multiple client locations.  Projects could include constructability reviews, peer reviews, construction management services, QA/ QC services and other technical support services related to construction management.

The Project Manager will work closely and directly with the clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope, timeline, and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and will hire new talent as needed to fulfill client needs. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize the progress of the project. Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of the project.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing all project tasks; provides quality assurance and oversight for all project activities.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure timely completion of all project status reports
  • Responsible for compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures
  • Work with functional organizations to ensure adequate program resources, coordinate staffing levels and reach back support
  • Provide technical and managerial advice to the client as needed to support construction programs
  • Works with the client to determine needs and provides oversight and coordination of Planate staff in the completion of technical deliverables.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Oversee staff in the completion of deliverables and the provision of services
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
  • Perform review of project deliverables for technical adequacy, accuracy, compliance with contract provisions
  • Ensure adequate internal controls and review procedures which shall eliminate conflicts, errors, and omissions, as well as ensuring the technical accuracy and timeliness of all work required under each task order
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

 Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, business or a related field from an accredited college/university
  • Experienced as a Project Manager for construction service projects, understanding of project management principles
  • Ten years’ experience in construction management, demonstrable experience in managing staff and technical deliverables
  • CMAA Certification and PMP Certification preferred
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of construction methods and techniques, ability to interpret A/E plans and specifications
  • Understanding of building codes and regulations
  • Understanding of construction contracting and contract management
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
